'04 Prairie 700 '05 Vinson or '05 BF650?
#1
I was set on a '05 Suzuki Vinson 5 speed but now I'm not sure. When it came down to it yesterday, I had the cash and was ready to go home w/ the Vinson, but the dealer showed me a few last minute options that had me thinking and I just couldn't make the call at that point. I want the 5 speed Vinson because I want to rip through the gears on the trail...kinda makes it a little more sporty I think. However, the Vinson doesn't have a locking front end nor that V-twin power.
The salesman then showed me an '04 Prairie 700 and said it's mine for $7200 OTD w/ plow, 8% sales tax (sucks around here), title, everything else included. I honestly wasn't sure if that is good or not. I was also reminded that the 2005 BF650 is only a couple hundred more than the Vinson.
Now it's easy to get all tripped up on power, but I want something with good handling that can take some aggressive trail riding. I will also be using the quad for some heavy plowing in the winter. What do you guys think?
What would be a good price for the 2004 Prairie 700? Would $7k OTD cash be good w/ a plow? Or is that high? (lol, if so, how high?)
What are the BF 650's going for OTD? MSRP is $6599. Would $6700 cash be good w/ a plow included?
Sorry to sound so indecisive, but I'm only 19 and this is my first dealership buying experience. Any input is appreciated cuz I am buying on Monday.
Thanks.

Usually the dealers will cut about 7% or 4 to 5 hundred bucks off the list price. The BF 650 Lists for 6599, the Prairie 7099 so I would expect to pay 400 or more under that anyway but especially if you are buying with cash. I saw a used Brute Force yesterday at my dealer for 6500 and it only had 33 miles on it. I tried to trade my Rincon for it but the dealer would not do it.
Thoses prices sound pretty close to the norm.
MY dealer prices are high what ever the bike list for he marks it up a couple hundred higher than that on the sticker. Then he will shave off some money but is making a killing and that sounds like what your dealer is doing. But if that is the final price with the plow included it doesn't sound too bad. I like to know the price I'm paying for the bike with nothing else added on. I don't know how much those plows sale for but for a final price with 8% sales tax it doesn't sound bad.
Oh I would buy the Prairie or Brute over the Vinsion after you ride an auto you may not ever want a manual shifter again.

I would go in their w/ $7,000 CASH money and tell him this what you'll give him for the Prairie 700. My Brute listed for 7,400 and thats what I paid out the door. But this was w/ the $69 winch deal. This was also the only Brute my dealer had and I didn't pay in Cash so he sorta had me a little.
Since Prairie's aren't that rare I'd give him no more than $7,000 OTD.

Yes cash money talks and %^&&^^%$ walks , definetly you have the upper hand with cash in hand. As for plowing they all plow good, all of the ones I have had plowed great, so I cant really say one plows better than another. But it is amazing what a quad will plow. Good luck.

From everything I've heard their is nothing even close to the P700 for Fast, aggressive trail riding. It definitly has the most power. The B.F. 650 should ride and handle the same w/o quite the power. I've never heard anything about the Vinson.
Personally, I would definitly get the P700.

The BF650 and P700 are going to ride about the same the BF650 should cost at least 500.00 less and run only slightly slower. The BF650/P700's will both run away from the vinson. I personaly think its hard to shift very fast on an auto clutch 5 speed so I am not sure of any gains by the 5speed. I like the new plastic on the BF650, I think its a little better than the plastic on the prairie. For the 500.00 you save on the P700 you can buy a Dyna cdi and K&N filter and out run the P700 and all the wile keeping 200.00 in your pocket. I truely think the BF650 is the best buy on the market today.

yea but how easy is it to be plowing snow, and being in the worng gear and then having to shift. you preactically stop. You lose all momentum. This is why i like the auto,
Just my .02
with a plow, and tax i paid 7000 OTD for my BF 650.
I hate tax.

lewichris,
What's sales tax near you? Eight freakin percent here. Sucks.
Also, what kind of plow did you get? I was going to shoot for $7100 OTD with a 54" Warn plow, but think it'll be more like $7200.
Thanks.

OffRder15,
I think that if you were to buy the Vinny and put some hrs. on it then try someones p 700 or 650 you would surely realize that you made a mistake , the power and acceleration will be uncomparable, and you will say what the heck did I do? DO yourself a favor get either one of the Kawis .Most of us end up wanting more power so get it now instead of having to sell the Vinny and then get more power, Im not knocking the Vinny at all , but of the ones you mentioned the vinny is the slowest and the least powerful. Kawis Prairies and BF 650's are very good in the woods and a fun all around quad , pulling wheelies when ever you feel like it, you will climb basically any hill you have the __________ to.good luck on your decision . KAWA POWA !!!!
