Default wiseco piston?

I have 98 lakota 300 and I like to pep it up a bit. Someone told me to replace the piston with a wiseco and get a k&n filter and jet kit. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Whatever you do, stay away from the K&N filters. They tend to let dirt into the motor. I ran them for 2 years and blew my motor 4 times. The last time, it siezed the crank and I had to take it to Lindsay Machine. When I picked it up the first thing they said was: "Have you been running a K&N filter?" The piston and crank were scored pretty bad, and every bearing in the motor was shot. So I say just save yourself the money and the motor work and get a UNI filter and run the Maxima filter oil. BTW the wiseco should make it have a little more power. They may even make a high compression piston for it, and if they do it will deffinently help.

i would get a jet kit, a twin or K&N air filter and a DG xcellerator or Supertrapp exhaust. you also should get a DP or K&G clutch kit, they are much better then stock and would take alot more of a beating especially if you want to get mods for your lakota

i've been running K&N's since i started riding and never had a problem with them.

Also if you are going to get another piston, for 2 strokes i run a wiseco pro lite in the LT250R i got and a Pro X custom big bore piston in my Honda 250R, but for 4 strokes i like JE pistons they are one of the best for 4 strokes.
Get a pipe and all that stuff too just like 86LT250RFatty said, usually you can get a Cobra for a little over a hundred bucks, but you won't see too much difference in power, but you'll hear the noise difference, i would at least go with a FMF Powercore4 or DG Xcellerator, these are 2 of the best pipes you can get for your money.
