Plow / Winch combo problems
#11
I have the same combo. On mine, the plow contacts the frame before the winch hook runs out of travel. To help with the amount of lift, I installed a front spring kit purchased off Ebay. That reduced the amount of "dive" that brought the front down (compressing the struts) before lifting the plow up.
We only had one snow last year where I needed to plow with the Prairie. It worked just fine. Only problem is that the battery runs down faster than can be recharged since the winch is pulling a lot of amps.

Has anyone tried mounting a plow under the Ricochet skid plates. I have a Warn angled plow and am having a hard time trying to find a mount for the plow. The one that came with it uses U bolts in the front and back and the P700 doesn't have a spot for the rear U bolts. Went to the dealer and since I bought the plow setup online, they were of no help. I guess I need to contact Warn or take off the skid plate and try something else. Help!!!!!

dogg,
I have the Ricochet & warn plow setup and I notched the skid plate for the clamps and drilled holes in it to put the u bolts through. I hate the way it hangs down but I just take it off come spring time so I don't get it caught up on the rocks.
I also use the warn synthetic winch rope for lifting so I don't wreck the winch cable.

Mike,
I will have to take a closer look at the setup. I looked for a connection where the U bolts would fit and things just didn't seem to align up. I will flip it up again and give it a shot. Do you have any pictures?

As to the winch. I take the cable off for the winter and put on a seat belt out of an old car. Real strong and wont get messed up. If it does who cares.
After I get the cable off and rolled up. I take the seat belt with a piece of duct tape on the end and stick it to the drum. Then just reel it in. The duct tape just holds it to start then the wraps take over. just like the cable.

whats the distance between the pushtube mounts. I have a country cycle pushtube and the mounting brackets do not interfer with the skid plates. Off of the top of my head its 14.5". The only disadvantage is you loose ground clearance. In the spring I will take off the mounts....only 8 bolts total.
If your warn is 14.5" you can use these mounts....

Mike,
Your pictures were fine...Thanks. For a minute, I thought I was trying to install the thing reversed! I went back out and looked at it again and decided to take off the skid plate to really see what I was working with. After doing so, I found 1 exact spot where the mount would fit. Now I am going to put the skid plate back on and try and hit those exact spots with the drill. The only spots are in the gap where the frame angles meet. Maybe I will try and mark them from the top. I think the edge notching is going to be the most difficult. Good thing its not snowing yet!
