Default Off topic help

I am not a mechanic and I have a question of concern for anyone that can help. First of all, I do own and ride a 650 Prairie and 700 Prairie. I also own a Suzuki Hayabusa that I ride occasionally. Anyway, last night I had to replace the battery on my Hayabusa because it just wouldn't hold a charge. The guy from the shop told me to leave my bike running idle for about 45 minutes after I replaced it. 45 minutes later when I went out to check on my bike, it had red lined on the temp gauge. After I turned it off, a little while later, radiator fluid started leaking from underneath. Should I be concerned?

Check your coolant level. Probably just vented some coolant from being too hot.

Riding your bike will charge it. Doubt if Idling will. Usually Alternator/rectifier has to be at a certain RPM/voltage to charge Get you a trickle charger & check your fluid monthly. Sitting Idle/in storage is hard on batteries. Best to remove battery & keep it in heated area & charge monthly or keep it on a trickle charger.

The guy from the shop must be an idiot, you should never let you bike idle for that long. Not only does it not cool, it doesn't get the proper lubrication. Get yourself and battery maintainer, they usually come with the plug already wired so all you have to do is connect the 2 leads to the battery and plug the power cord in and forget about it until your next ride.

No joke....and I must have been an idiot for listening to him. Anyway, I figured out that I blew a fuse on my radiator fan so that was part of my problem. It's all good though......thanks anyway.
