Those look pretty good, just clean off all that flux and soak it down with some good conformal coating and it would be waterproof.

Default Internal Guts of a Module

ive been looking into websites for cdi's myself. Never really thought of putting one together on my own. They are charging upwards of 100 dollars for modules that eliminate the ignition timing on the low end. Do you have anymore info on your module id really be interested in putting one together for my 650. Weve been doing alot of circuitry in my engineering physics class, and my teacher would be able to provide the materials and help me build it, just need some specs on the parts if you wouldnt mind letting me know, the resistors can be told by the colors, but other than that, could use some help. Thanks alot and good riding.

400PrairieXLT,
You can use a silicone like HL uses or you can use a epoxy from an electrical supply company one that reduces the amount of extra frequencys being produced by a group of electrical appliances.

Frndinalowplace,
I will try to get values of the other components.

Hey frndinalowplace. Just get a data sheet for the NE555 timer chip. It will show you how to make a 1khz oscillator that runs off of 12 volts.
I hope this helps

What are the resistor looking components with the solid black stripe? Is that a "zero" ohm or what we called fuseisters?

Not sure of the values the timer is of military quality so that it will handle high and low heat ranges. As for the resistor with the black band I do not know what they represent.

the zero ohm resistors i have seen have 2 black bands and a third 'tolerance' band

ALLTOYS, I broke down the pic as best i could on nyrocs site. the capacitors (and a couple of resistors) determine the operating frequency... since we know the resistor value we could determine the capacitor value if we knew the frequency... kinda reverse engineer it with a little math ... as for the 2 parts with the single black band, i don't have a clue! my first thought was chokes... but all the chokes that i have messed with all have squared ends, not angled or rounded as shown in the pics.

Gougenonit,
I do not know what the ( chokes are ) if they are a choke sorry I do not know the values. As for the frequency it is 1100 hz with this unit but others are using slightly over 3000 hz like HL and I think DG hope that helps.

That's what kinda confuses me the freq.... "frequency is 1100 hz with this unit but others are using slightly over 3000 hz" so I guess it really doesn't matter too much about the freq that is input to the cdi just as long as it does what it is s'posed to do. LOL anyway, racked my brain a lil' too much on this one today so I'll take a break and get back to it a lil later!

Just wanted to thank you for some of the knowledge you have shared in past posts... you nyroc and kod have helped me a lot
