Default Replacing rear brake discs on P650...need new metal plates too?

I'm going to replace all 3 friction discs for the rear brake on my 03 P650. Does anyone know if I also have to replace the metal plates that go between each friction plate? Mine don't appear to be damaged...but is it possible that they are "glazed" over and thus, I need to replace these metal plates too?

Happy trails...
