Anybody else get their V recalled?
#1
I just got a letter from Kawasaki that I have to take my V in for a recall. Seems that you can't reset the belt light once it comes on. They said that they will have to replace the "igniter". Anybody else have this deal?

havent heard about that one. I reset belt light myself using a procedure i found on this connection forum. Switch 2 connectors around and it resets the light. I havent had any problems but the light hasent come on again..

Some of the '04 Limited Editions were recalled for possibly bad igniters that can not be reset. In fact, both of our Vs were recalled. We received our recall letters in November of '03. We didn't take them in to the dealer to have the igniters changed (my husband works for Kawasaki Motors and said we would worry about it when it happened) Well, our check belt lights came on both of them at about the same time and we were unable to reset our lights because the igniters were bad. If you don't want to take yours in, you can always disconnect the light.

I wonder if I can just ask for the money that the stock CDI would cost Kawasaki and buy an aftermarket unit?
Ya, I know, but I can keep on dreaming...........
BTW mine is not a LE but a green job. Thanks for the replys.

When my '04 Prairie's light came on, it couldn't be reset. The mechanic said he had to replace the igniter. Up until now, I just assumed he really meant the controller. I wonder how the CDI could be screwing up the belt system?
