Winch ??
#1
I'm looking at getting a winch. My main question is, are any of the cheaper winches off ebay any good? It ould be nice to pay $100 not $400 for a winch. I would mainly use if for plowing snow. Any feed back on the cheaper winches and how the work would be great.

Don't cheap out if you feel you may ever really need the winch. I have a cheap little 2000# superwinch on mine, and its pretty much dead. gonna be getting a Warn 3000 once i can afford it. Also, if you look at the controllers, Warn is the only one with a nice small switch to mount on the bars, the other and cheaper manufacturers seem to always have inconvenient, clunky controls.

If you do a search on Ebay you will find Warn 2500's for about 250.00. I'm sure a cheapy knock off will do just fine for simply raising and plow blade. For a few $$ more you will have a solid winch that will last and that you can count on if you ever do get stuck.

I know warn winches are the best and everyone likes warn, but I've seen my share of warn winches with problems. I just wanted to know if anyone bought a cheaper winch off ebay or somewhere and how they like it. All I really need it for is plowning snow. If I'm lucky I might get stuck once a year.

I have a son-in-law that just bought one off ebay for $100, it's made in china although seems pretty heavy made.
We installed it on his Rancher connected everything up and 1 of solenoids (there are 2, they reverse polarity to the motor)
will only click, will not engage. Luckly the winch will work in the "pull" mode" so he has to let the cable out by hand and use the winch
to wind it back in.
There is no warranty or technical support.
My 2 cents? Stick with a Warn, Ramsey or SuperWinch.
