I heard that kx motors aren't balanced and make alot of vibration. I was looking at a honda 400ex and it looks like it wouldn't be to hard to do.

if you are going for a two-stroke go for a tecate motor it will be more balanced then the dirt bike motors but for a thumper go for a kfx 400 motor

I am not sure what I want to do yet. I am still considering buying a 89honda 250R. I am looking for something that will handle good and have alot of power.

Checkout a KDX250 engine, while not the out and out power kings that the KX's are they are a bit smoother for the environs of a quad fame. Granted it'll take a litte digging as they were discontinued awhile back.

swap it with a cr500 engine. it'll vibrate but it's easy do to. It takes me around 25 hours and after that i was running it. it's scary fast and i'll eat any banshee or 250r except those that are bore stroke and work on alky.
