Mojave starting problems!!!!
#1
I have a 2001 mojave and i have problems starting it. It takes alot of kicks to get it started warm or cold. Eack times it pops but doesnt keep poping. There is a very little leak in the base gasket, where a little oil comes out, would that cause this. If thats the problem, it also burns oils, the last time i had it apart the rings were fine, where else would it be leaking oil, and what it would take to fix it. Thank you

Make sure your valves are adjusted properly, Do a compression Check, and ensure cylinder headbolts are torqued to correct specs.
Also, Fresh gas and sparkplug helps.

UPDATE: It starts fine when cold. When its warm it takes foerever to start. I just checked valves, and adjusted them, but the same result, checked head bolts, and they were fine. What else is there to check for problems. Thank u.

I just got thinking, and wondering if a lower octane fuel would do this. I switched to regular gas since i was broke and needed gas. I cant remeber when this started to happen, and when i switched fuels. Thanks

clean the carb good and double chech the jets make sure there clean and then get a higher octane gas like 92 or higher and try it then dont forget to make sure fuel air mix is right it sounds like the carb or filter problem to me ... hope this may help ! also if you say leaking oil? is it on the top of the motor just above the front sprocket? if so its the timing chain tensioner thats iether not sealing or the nut protector is gone

My base gasket was leaking to and mine was very hard to start. After i replaced my base gasket and head gasket it starts in one kick every time. maybe i was loosing compression through the gaskets or something.
