Default Dyna CDI, anyone having a problem in 2005

Took my new Dyna CDI out for a spin in my P700 yesterday, at Carnegie state rec vehicle park between Tracy and Livermore...

The CDI gives the machine a whole new "snap".... give it even more impressive performance than stock... It even sounds like a different machine.

I only put about 25 miles on it, but so far, I am very happy!

Has any body else noticed it changes the exhaust note a little...

I have a warranty replacement and it is working fine. The idle is slightly higher. The BF must be really warmed up before it totally smooths out. When its good and hot its smooth and you can't tell you have a Dyna until you accelerate. At that time there will be no doubt in your mind!

Well why would my luck change now? I started this post, I wouldnt believe that mine would have a problem as it must have just been a very vocal group of unlucky people who had failures of thier Dyna modules, WRONG!!!!

Just got mine in today, DAMN, running on one cylinder.

I cannot believe Dyna can stay in buisness with this failure rate, what kind of quality control do they have?

I spoke to a person named Raymond at Dyna, very nice guy, and very helpful but unfortunatly, not a whole lot he could do besides saying send it back.

Looks like I am going to be without.

I have heard of people with a backfiring , kicking back and won't run problem, but I don't think I read of anyone having a one cylinder firing issue.

Well I had a out of the box failure of a $12,000 Layer 3 switch CPU last night, looks like I am having a bad 24 hours, I am a little frightened to go to the bathroom, who knows what will break next?

Hey Sammy,
I am still waiting on my third dyna fs. The first two they sent me did about the same thing. Backed out of the garage, put it in drive, went about ten feet and dropped a cylinder. You are not alone with this problem. They keep telling me they rarely, if ever have any problems with these. These threads would indicate otherwise. I am not the only one who has gotten more than one bad unit. In this thread alone there is at least one other. Imagine how many people have gotten bad units who haven't replied or don't read these forums. I am not buying that this failure is such a rare occurance. I bought mine back in January and still don't have a working unit. If I ever do get a good unit my next challenge will be to get them to give me a full waaranty starting from the date they delivered a non-deffective unit instead of the original purchase date. At this point their screw ups and **** poor warranty turn time has ate up about 25% of my warranty period.

I ordered my Dyna CDI on Mon for my BF750, despite what I've been reading it seems like the positives out weigh the negs. They said it would not be shipped out until the end of the month or beginning of April. So apparently they are in production of new units. I will keep my fingers crossed and will report back once received and installed.

I spoke too soon! Took my BF with replacement Dyna out again today, rode about 5 miles before it backfired, ran on one cylinder and died. All this within 15 feet and at less than 5 mph. It has a total of about 75 miles on this replacement CDI. I'll send it back Monday for another replacement.

I received my second CDI today. My first one did not make it out of the garage, all I can say about the new one is WOW!!!!!
Man I hope this thing doesnt break down as this power is amazing, I don't see how I could ever go back to stock. I can see why the low speed timing retard is in the factory module as this thing is way to much power for anyone without some experience with high performance quads. This things pulls much stronger than my ported 92 Quadracer 250

My first one had the good ole' starter kickback problem, however I kept it quite a while before sending it back and recieved my second one about a week or two ago and it dropped a cylinder after a couple hundred yards so now I am waiting on my third and final one because if this one fails I will wait for the new cdi to come out.
