Default 300 4x4 question

As a 2000 praire 300 4x4 owner, I would like to be able to disengage the 4 wheel drive, I understand Warn makes a unit for this model. My question is has anyone installed one or had the oppertunity to use one ? What are pro's and cons of this unit, and long term durability. I have over 1700 miles with no problems and want to keep it that way. Thanks for any info anyone may have.

I sure wish they made one for the 400.... They are a direct engage unit. meaning that you push a plunger to directly engage the shaft. Not much there to wear out as long as you dont do it at full throttle in the mud holes.

I'll be putting one on this summer also... I've heard of no problems with them... if I understand correctly, it replaces the front drive shaft...

Thats right, replaces the front drive shaft, thats why they say they cant make one for the 400, not enough room. I just think they havent tried hard enough because I really want one.
