Someone on the forum stated recently that there is top end loss if a stiffer secondary spring is installed. It grips the belt tighter and therefore top end is lost due to friction losses between the secondary sheaves and the belt.
The red primary is a high stall spring that you have to be careful of when climbing a steep incline. It wants to wheelie and could come back over if you're not careful with the throttle.
Just curious....did EPI recommend this spring combination for the BF750?

I doubt that the red spring has anything to do with the speed loss, the white spring I would bet is the culprit. My brothers 650 loss all top speed when we put the heavier secondary spring in it takes a lot force to compress that spring and that must be what is causing the speed loss. My brute will do at least 72 with the red spring and k54 wieghts. I have not topped it out totally yet but I hit 72 and was still climbing. I have had our 700 for a while and have yet to have one problem with the belt I don't really feel that secondary is that much better. My 2 cents. It will also hit 70 or 71 and that is with the 26" 589s not light tires and it doesn't gain anything going to stockers either. You are not even close to the rev limiter you are several thousand off at 60 mph. If it were hitting then the belt would be smoking at that speed cause something will have to give. Hope this helped some. Sam

well i took the secondary out no diffrance but the belt slips a little when you pin the throttle but why is it only going 60mph on the pullies the belt looks like it was right on top there were marks may be a 1/4 inch down

You must have changed something (i.e. clutch weights, tire size, ignitor). Check your belt deflection and remove shims if needed. Stock Brutes are running 67-72MPH. However, If you weigh over 300lbs don't expect 71+ on a stock Brute.
