Default Elka spring kit setting

Hi Guys,

I installed the Elka spring kit on my front struts a few months ago. They work well and have enhanced my overall handling, but I find that I am bottoming out my front suspention far more than I did with the factory springs. I installed the spring kit with the spacers set to give a stiffer ride and have the pre load adjusted in the middle. Will bringing the preload to its max setting help with the bottoming out? Any replies are appreciated.

Place the Black plastic preload ring longer part facing down on both of your springs & adjust tension. My factory struts were leaking/shot so I'm replacing them too.

Tuff,

I have the spacer installed as you recommend. How far dod you tighten the pre-adjust? Off, I paid $240 from World wide performance.

Obviously the spring kit would help the performance on the trails, but is this what I'm looking for to stiffen up the springs when I'm plowing? In other words, are these springs capable of adjusting stiff enough to make a noticable difference over the stockers when I'm plowing, or should I look elsewhere?

Thanks.

I'm still waiting on my Works shock/struts. I would adjust to where you like them. Supposably, springs & Shocks are made for your body weight so what works for me may not work for you.

I Ordered my Elka springs from Percision Motorsports & paid $269 although they are advertized for $225 on their webpage. Supposable ther was a price increase 1 Feb 05 not posted on their webpage.

I installed mine with the short spring on the bottom. Broke in P700 with stock springs, then swapped the Elkas over to the 700 from the P650. Noticed a real difference in the ride comfort, much better. They never bottomed out when on the 650.

FastEd: Front end does not squat as much it did with stock springs when lifting 5' plow. Got my set and velcro covers from Elka in Canada. $225 + $20 for bags, that was last year. I recommend those bags to keep rocks, mud off the strut shafts.
