How much additional performance will I gain if I get the clutch kit and not just the spring. Due the weights really make that big of a difference?

I have a dalton kit in my brute. I chose the dalton because it uses the same style weights as ayamaha clutch with a removable/interchangeable rivet that allows you to fine tune your clutch. I didnt know if in the future I would go to a larger mud tire which would need a change in clutching to compensate for the tire change. With Dalton you simply remove the rivet from the weight and your all set for a heavy mud tire. With an epi kit you need to order the kit based on your set up(stock or larger tires) If your running stock now then you upgrade to mud tires that are heavy...your epi weights are no use to you anymore. Another example would be if you modded your bike some and got some more power then you could stopo by a yamaha dealer and pickup some slightly heavier rivets for $1.00 or so a piece and enjoy even better acceleration. In other words dalton will keep your long term price lower. I noticed a much better takeoff , its very controllable but def. much snappier than stock. Acceleration is noticeably improved and pulls better from idle to top end. Top speed stayed the same. I ordered mine from ritter cycle. Its a good idea to order the clutch puller at the same time. It makes belt removal much easier and its a lot nicer to work on the clutch on a work bench instead of on the bike. I know if you go with the dalton you wont be dissapointed.

I'm sorry for this question, but I don't know much about these CVT trannys. If I get the dalton clutch kit, can I use the EPI red spring later with the weights from dalton kit?

I just got my Dalton kit today. FYI if you install the weights and want to move them later you have to drill them out because you have to you a vise to press them in. I installed the weights in the stock tire size position because I have 26" ATRs (26 is stock isnt it? I threw my Dunflops away so I cant check 'em), I sure hope I dont have to move them. if I need more guts later can I also change the secondary spring and leave all this in?

Have you had a chance to ride it yet, did you feel a noticeable difference? Also the brute comes with 25" tires, but thats not that much difference.

Do you know if you can use an EPI spring with dalton weights?

Any Spring that will fit your CVT will work with any clutch weight/kit (Dalton, EPI, Comet, Polaris). . The Primary spring goes in behind the cover plate. The clutch weights are attached to the clutch basket/front Sheeve. The Primary clutch has 5 separate/removable parts; Cover Plate, Primary Spring, Spider, front sleeve/basket and rear sheeve/drive shaft

You can Visit http://700v.com/id18.htm to see what stall and shiftout the spring has or kawazaki.com to review parts diagram and breakdown.
