Default P650 crossed first water, belt slip, speedo not reading correct

I ended up crossing my first water today with DakotaPrairie. We basicly were just in and out, didnt linger, we crossed more of a gully of water down and up versus a stream. The water was up to the bars for a second.

Anyway I noticed the belt slipped a bit, it kept getting better. Will this dry by itself?

I notice there seems to be a little of a bog now at full throttle, is that still the belt slipping?

Also after about 20mph the spedo reads erraticly, like 7-11mph.

Noticed no water in airbox, noticed nothing bad with the oil.

Any tips?

Thanks

Ok, racks. Any tips?

The engine never stalled, and we drove about 10 miles post that pretty fast.

yeah
there is a exuast for the tranny in the rear right below the rear fender (if it the same as the lil prairie) if that went under water then you got water in the tranny = belt slipage
speedo not working means some of your wires got wet and either shorted out or someting
check wires and drain the tranny
the big ones have lil drain plugs
change the oil just in case
that won't hurt anything atleast it will help
i have drown mine twice
and that is some of the problem i have had

also how long has it been since it got messed up
if you wait awhile the water might evaporate and then it might go back to normal (maybe)
i have seen this beofre on many electronic things
just trying to help a man out

Plainsman

Pop off your CVT cover, Inspect and clean any mud/dirt.

Sand/mud plays havoc on your Primary clutch & belt. Just remember to not turn on the key with the CVT cover off.

Your Air intake for your Carbs and CVT are right below your handlebars. If you pop your radiator access panel you'll see them; one on each side.

If you had water up to the radiator access panel, more than likely you got water in your air filter & CVT. Drain both. Milky oil is a taletale sign you got water in your engine, if oil is milky change filter & oil. Hopefully your recoil pull starter handle was on tight. If not its full of water also. One last thing, check your rear storage compartment (under your seat) for moisture/water

I ran my 650P off in my pond and it went completly under. Jumped off and it floats, put in 4x4 walked beside it and got it out. Never a problem, no slip, no water in oil, nothing. For 4 years I cross, ride through, and play in water with mine without problems. 4k miles and sold it to pay some bills. Gona buy another Prairie.

Check gasket on CV cover.
When you get it deep water for only a second or so, keep engine screaming and don't let out until
you through the water.
