Is your air filter very dirty, your quad might be starving for air. Also, is your exhaust clear? If mud, carbon, etc. builds up in the exhaust, it will hurt performance. Unless your belt is VERY LOOSE, it should not hurt top speed. Rather, it would hurt bottom end as it would slip. Don't get me wrong, your belt should be adjusted to spec, but if you used to get a much higher top speed, it may be something other than a loose belt.

my filter could use a cleaning (cant seem to find the time to do it) but its not extremely dirty. i know my exhaust hasnt got mud in it, but dont know about carbon, the plug is rounded off and i cant get it out, probably have to drill it out and re tap it. the last time i had my belt cover off i didnt measure the deflection, i did push down on it and by lookin at it there was probably around 1 1/2" of deflection, but the other day when the belt was good and warm it would squeek a little while idling in gear.
my speed has droped from 65 to 58-60 ever since my first belt adjustment. looks like i just need to throw my p700 belt on there and a few more mods.

Just bought the P700 primary spring today and will put it in tomorrow, you guys talk about shims in the front primary are they already in there or are you putting them in for more pressure on the spring, if the springs are not in there already are they the same as the secondary shims. Thanks for the info.

csmallman: The primary spacers or shims that go with the primary spring are just thick enough to increase stall by about 100 rpm. Not sure if there is one in there already.
They are smaller in diameter than the secondary spring spacers and look to be about 1 mm thick. The part number is 92026-1603 and they are about $4 apiece thru the dealer. I got 4 of them, but don't think I really need that many.

i have the orange blue in my 700p and i was the one who said that it free wheels down hills and i have to keep bliping the throttle.
i havent tryed it with the stock spring so i have nothing to compare it to.
i find i like it because i can give it a bit of gas befor it engauges so i have more power off the line.
it takes a bit of getting used to on the trails but im ok with it now.
