Default What 25" tires for hardpack riding

I have a BF750 and have been running 26" 589s all winter. For summer I wont need the 589s and want to get some 25" radials that will be smoother on hardpack dirt, gravel, and pavement. I will also need them to work good in sand.

I have two sets of wheels and plan on switching back and forth between the new tires and the 589s depending on where I am riding.

What tires will be best on gravel/dirt/pavement?

I agree. I'm running the ITP Holeshot ATR radials (26"). Great handling and traction on hardpack and most anything else, except deep mud.

Mark,
I have the 25in ATR's mounted on the c-series wheel. Great handeling and traction, however the are way off balance. At speeds higher than 50mph on hard surface(pavement) the bike will shake like hell. I fixed this by balancing the tires with 4.5lbs of psi on a snap-on balance machine at my friend station.

I also have atr's on my prairie. They work well in every situation I have put them in. However, I also have a balance problem that causes them to shake on very hard pack and pavement. Also I do alot of sand drag racing and the atr's extra weight and width will hold back your top end on sand. On pavement my bike will run upto 68-69, on the sand it struggles to hit 57-58 with the atr's.

I need a tire that won't shake at all even at 70mph.

Go with the Maxxis Bighorns. Other than price they can't be beat. You will get your monies worth out of them.

prairiepilot: No drawbacks? Are they a bit heavy?

Comments(?) or does everyone pretty much agree on Bighorns other than cost? Don't want to start up anything, just checking with you members that have tried after-market tires. I've tried 25" mudrunners and know they wear well. Don't know how they compare in traction with other tires. Traction and good tread wear on hardpack and rocks are my concerns.

MarkGleason: I know this is your topic and your thread, just trying to get a little more info. No offense.

P.S. Is everybody talking about ITP holeshot ATR radials? What do the initials mean?
