Default 04 vs 05 Vforce

Hello I am new to these forums but have been visiting atving.com for years. I have been looking to get a new quad for some time and have decided on the kawi vforce 700. My question is; has anything changed on the 05 model year 700 from 04? Are there any problems with the 04s? My local dealer has a brand new 04 vforce 700 and he quoted me 6400 OTD. I went to a dealer that is about an hour away and they wanted 8000 otd and wouldn't budge for an 05! Ridiculous! I thought i would get a better deal going to a big dealer but I was wrong. I don't care if I get an 04 rather then an 05 if there are no significant changes/fixes and being as the dealer is only a few miles away is a huge plus. Thanks in advance for any and all info

thanks for the info, that is a huge help!

any of you guys that have the vforce - what budget minded upgrades would you recommend? I will be riding in a very moderate climate on trails/fire roads and some desert riding in my future. I won't be doing any serious jumping or anything too extreme. would you guys recommend more skidplates or anything along that line?

wow man, that is steep! Out here in tennessee, the prices are kind of high too. Alot of the dealers claimed to have sold their allocation of v-forces for the year! I looked just over the border in mississippi and found an orange V for 5999.00 and since its out of state... you know what that means (shhhhhhh ) But yeah man, you will love the V. It is a beast and a half! It is alot of fun to ride, the most fun i have ever had on a quad for that matter. I was thinking that I would get tired of the no shifting, but nope. I prefer to be in the perfect gear all the time, and have all of the tuning options that a CVT offers. Not to mention the "wheely-on-demand" feature hehe. You can't go wrong with a V. I congratulate you on your decision, and keep the rubber side down.

Just saw your new post, yeah I would say go with some skids. I like the skids from PRM they have a great fitment, and cover about everything that needs to be covered. I'm running the red spring right now, which alot of people think is too much stall for trails, at least technical ones but i got used to it really fast. Id say swap the spring out (dirt cheap) and go with a diff skid plate from PRM and a full belly skid that runs up the frame, like the PRM one does. Aside from that, all you should have to worry about are the tie rods, i havent bent mine yet but I only have about 10-15 hours on it so far. If you hit things alot, you might consider a bumper too.

Thanks Ross

Yeah I could probably get a better price then 6400 if i go down to LA or down to one of the big dealers like Alba but I would rather have a good relationship with a local dealer. One of my friends has bought a couple Kawi dirt bikes from our local dealer and he says he'll never buy from any other dealer again. Over here in Cali it is harder to get a good deal on a quad because of the high costs of running a business here. I don't want to have to drive six hours to a dealer and get annialated by the gas prices (2.87 a gallon here ) just to save a couple hundred bucks haha.

Also, depending on how long those fire roads are, and how long you typically ride, you might want to consider the IMS 4.6 gallon fuel tank. Expensive though about 200 bucks from rockymountainatv.com While the range is alright for a stock V, you will soon find yourself wishing it could go farther on a tank. My experience has been 3.2 gallons doesnt feed the flyin V too well, it gets thirsty after about 3 or 4 hours of hard riding (at least for me it does) that is mostly at WOT. It takes about 3 hours or so for the fuel light to come on, at that point i really dont know how much gas is left, but I then make my way back to the trailer and fill it back up. An IMS fuel tank is in my future for sure.

I hear you man, it is murder here too. Regular is about 2.25 a gallon here and that is way high for this part of the country. for 93 its about 2.45-2.55 a gallon. I got my V from a dealer thats about an hour and 15 mins away, and it was worth it. Locally i would have to pay tax and of course their higher price. so for me, that was a no brainer.

I was also thinking about your mods, you might also want to consider a UNI filter or K&N for that beast. They had mine set a little rich from the dealer, so when I put on the K&N and the precharger i did not have to rejet. Thats just another thought, it will help wake the sleeping monster up a little hehe. And if you do get a K&N you will want the outerwears/precharger for it (helps keep the dust from sucking all the oil out of the filter too soon)

hope those are helpful suggestions!

yeah thanks, i was thinking about a k&n filter right away too. I didn't really think about the fuel capacity til you said something about the larger tank but now i will have to check into that too, i will just have to wait and see what my normal rides will be when i hit the trails. thanks again!
