I would bet anything that cartman was right on about the dealer overfilling the cranckcase. Its happed to me 3 or 4 times. I would take one in for a full service valve check new plugs diff service ect, ect. Every time someone new does it they guess and guess wrong and overfill it. I have learned the hard way to make them put big notes all over the service order DO NOT OVERFILL THE CRANKCASE .
I don't know about you guys but I like to keep mine in center of the hash marks to be on the safe side. I think the amount of pressure and the location of the airbox are so close to the crankcase makes for a bad ride if its overfilled. The first time that happened to me 2 or 3 years ago I thought I plew it up wouldn't hardly run smoking real bad. pulled the air box cover, oil was everywhere. With the BB 765/800 and up you have to relocate the air breather do to the higher compression and its close proximity to the crankcase. This is not a problem on stock motors just to many dealer service techs guess instead of looking up the correct capacity.
Congratts!!!! on your new 700 Sog.

Some of the guys turning wrenches at the dealers are newbies and assume that all oils are checked by placing the dip stick on top of the threads. The Kawi manual states to screw it in to get your reading. If it is not screwed in you'll have way too much oil in tha crank case. I always add oil per the manual. If the manual says 1.8L with filter change I add 1.8 and then check to make sure it's not too high or low. Most mfg will stamp the engine oil capacity right on the case somewhere visible to prevent over or under filling.

welcom sog to the kawi world.
i have the dalton orange blue cluch spring in my 700p and it alows me to rev the engine to about 2000 rpms befor it hooks up.
i find this very good for towing because i can get a bit more rpms out of it befor it starts to move.
then it wont slip the belt as much.
also i have bin told to keep it in low gear as much as possable for slow riding or your belt will ware out prematurly.
ps mine will do 40 mph in low and 60 mph in high.
i hit 60 last night on mine for the first time and it was still eccellerating.
and thats withthe 28" mud zillas on it.
good luck with your new quad.

My 05 prairie has been running great i think the problem was due to lack of break in holding it wide open to soonprobaly caused the rings to not seat or something of that nature, its not a typical problem. with wheelies i can pop one for 50 feet or more with no adverse affets, but i babied it for the first 20 hours and gave it a few proper break oil changes ect. as for the 5mph it takes time and practice you just have to rember its a 700 twin

also to get used to the atv the prairie has a throttle limit screw which i recomend using your new to quads, the prairie is pretty stable but with a 700 motor it can get away from you and at 600+pounds thats not good . the honda 4x4's are great machines for casual trails and are very reliable but if you feel the need for speed get a prairie, one your dealer hasnt ridden heck i watched prep mine and was the first to start it thats the way to go!

true curls. most engines will have a liter capacity stamped right near the fill port/cap/ Something like 1.8L. Be sure you pay attention to the liter mark to, a quart is only something like .976 liters, in small engines like these thats not a lot of difference from a quart but might cause problems from "underfilling. Putting 1.8 qt instead of 1.8 liters as indicated would not be enough.

Funny thing you mention the sales rep putting the 700 thru the paces.
When I bought my prairie back in 02 I was listening to a lot of sales pitch the saleseman was telling me, pretending I didn't know nothing about quads. Then he tells me you know this thing will go just in fast ain reverse as foward & I said "You don't say." Salesman then hops on and guns it, almost did a reveerse wheelie, at about 25ft he decided to turn the wheels, DUH... cartwheeled it side over side and 600 lb quad landed up on him. Quad had busted plastic and who knows what else. We thought he had bit the bullet and rush to see if he had. He survived with a busted leg and severe road rash, & extremely embassased
Guess he showed my friend and I what NOT to do. Needless to say we bought the ones with Zero miles.
