I had a V until I managed to hit a fixed object in the back yard.
I had the same problem with mine. The air/fuel mixture screws are out of adjustment. They came this way from the factory for some reason. Look at the carbs from the right hand side of the machine and you will see a gold screw on each carb, angled down at about a 45 degree angle. I believe we backed mine out 3/4 turn and that pretty much took care of it. I added another 1/4 turn about a week later and it was never a problem again.

I hit a patch of ice under some snow and went sideways into a tree at 10 mph. Doesn't seem like much but because it hit the tree dead center on the primary clutch, it busted the clutch cover, bent the clutch, bent the crank shaft, shoved the motor an inch to the left in the frame(new frame needed), and busted a mounting tab for the front fenders. All of this = TOTAL LOSS.
I just got a call from the guy who already bought it at a salvage auction. Don't know what he paid.
