Default Speed Run Kaput

After using a few helpful hints from forum members I managed to get enough power to put my quad over 100 mph doubled the time for NOs but still not long enough. My son was the pilot he managed to get a peak speed of 108 mph only he couldn't hold the speed for one mile we tried different things to keep the temperature down but it was to much and eventually destroyed the engine. What happened was the cams seized up there isn't enough relief for the FST cams at higher rpms. The motor locked up at top end my son almost lost control of it. My heart stopped for a fractiion of second. Visions of my crash from last year were going through my mind all within micro seconds but seamed like a lifetime. He brought it under control only through brute force and precautions we took before starting this did he managed to keep it upright.

That's it, no more!! This is the last time no more speed runs. I am converting my quad back to basic stock make it for fun only. Spend more time with kids especially Munchkins, life is to short to see it through a hospital window!!

108 MPH on a quad!!! You should change your name to Cahoonas-are-us. Definately know my cahoonas a not large enough to attempt 100+MPH for over a mile, especially on a quad. Sounds like your top end needed additional oiling like the turbos require. While in Air Force technicians solved a similar bearing failure problem by installing an additional oil line that sprayed oil directly to the bearing surface.

A 75HP (basic stock) Prairie is a serious fun toy on anybody's fun meter!!

Happy Trails

That sounds crazy. I get a lot of front handlebar shake at 70mph. How did you ever balance the tires good enough for 100mph? What was the stock speedo showing on top end, or was it a gps you used? How did your son use a brute force to stop it anyway, was you riding side by side?

Tuff,
This is one more thing to try to overcome it is always the same soon as you solve one problem then another two pop up. I was hoping to propell the quad a little faster so the declining speed would have an average of 100 mph.

NewBF750,
I had adapted very thin racing tires from a street dragster on the quad they worked flawlessly. Speeds were recorded with a GPS on quad and a police radar gun who actually were in attendance. If not for them we could not have staged the trials. They have a test track that was generously supplied for our trials.

I thank all who were involved. I was hoping to have it licked and have an official record but life is more important.

Hey Gary. Too bad about your speed run. I know you were looking forward to breaking the 100 mph barrier but like you said, life's too short to be looking at it through a hospital window.

Gary660R, Big ***** must run in the family or junior never would have got on that badboy!!!! It's not like he's only 17 or so anyways. He's a big boy and can make up his own mind whether or not he wanted to ride it. From what I hear there was a couple other guys willing to hop on the rocket!!

Better get that damn thing rebuilt before the end of July Toys!! Already got beers in the cooler!!LOL!! Oh, and the wife said rhubarb pie won't go through an intravenous tube!!!

LOL....I was just busting Alltoys chops. I have probably been around the 100mph barrier on a quad myself. Peace .
