DG Xcellerator Stage 1 or 3 dbs.......
#1
I plan on purchasing a 400EX sport quad this summer and will soon after be putting an aftermarket exhaust on it. I don't want a DG really, but I rode a KFX700 today with either a stage 1 or 3 DG muffler on it. I'm not sure which one, but it had the outlet on the end of it, which I believe the stage 2 does not. Anyway, the reason I'm asking is because this pipe seemed to have the exact sound level I'm looking for. The DG website doesn't say, so does anyone know what the decibel level is on either or both of these pipes? If anyone is familiar with this pipe, is an FMF Q going to be quieter? Any help will be greatly appreciated.......thanks!

I got a stage 3 on my quad and it has the spark arrestor on it the ones with just an open hole at the end thats a non spark arrestor which are cheaper than the one i have...which mean you can add or take off disk in order to make it louder or quiter...also wth stage 3 you gotta rejet which you probably know already..stage 3 you get the most power and it sounds sick...i believe that they run about 98ds but i could be off afew...they are a bit on the moud side as people say but i find mine to be sick and perfect...look at my pics to see if that the pipe your talking about..

well let me say that vunit is right about the stage 3, its LOUD! and probally way over any legal limit for trail ridin lol. the stage 1 shuld be alot quiter because its only a slip on and they are designed completely diffirently than the stage 3 becasue of the fact that they are only a slip on and the sound level is 96db

Okay, now this just further confuses me. They told me they had a full-system on their V-Force. Whatever full Xccelerator they make that is not flat on the back (discs), but has what I would consider an "outlet" from the back is the pipe I'm looking for. I would love the sound level from that pipe. Is 96db really not that loud on a 4-stroke pipe? This sounded maybe a notch or two above a stock Yamaha utility if that helps any........

ok well the only full system is the stage 3 and you could get it with a flat end cap(spark arrested, tunable) or the outlet which is not spark arrested or tunable. the one with the outlet is cheaper. thsi is what i have on my lakota and like i said before it is loud but the tone and the loudness could be diffirent on a kfx700

OK, is anyone familiar with the sound emitted by a stock Honda CRF450R dirtbike? I am told this is 102dbs. I consider this too loud. With that said, would 96bs (the average level of many aftermarket ATV exhausts) sound considerably less loud than 102dbs or is the difference really not that noticeable?
