1997 Lakota oil change
#1
This may be a stupid question but id rather ask then overfill or underfill my lakota with oil. How exactly do you check oil level and how do you change the oil. Is there a drain plug?? Sorry but this is my firt 4-wheeler and with dirt bikes from my teen years im use to tippin the bike over for oil drain as well as haveing a dip stick to check it with. My lakota has no dip stick.

I can help you out...on the lakota's there is no dipstick like you already know..but there is a little glass window on the side of the motor and there is a top and bottom level...there are little lines on the motor next to the window to show you how high to fill it..you should fill it too the top level..i always fill mine up to the top level...i check it before every ride cuz my quad burns a little oil...yeah theres a drain plug right under the middle of the quad im almost 100% sure it a 17mm...also if your going to change the oil id change oil filter as well...

ya vunit is right, its a 17 mm bolt on the bottom of the engine toward the back and if you put around 2 quarts of oil in it youshould be fine or just fill up untill their is just a real small bubble on the top of the oil glass
