Default Oil for Lakota Sport 300

When I first purchased this quad I asked the service guy what oil is in it, he said Kawachem 20-50w, I thought 10-40w would be the weight but he said all the bikes he services get the Kawachem 20-50w, Iam out here in the Desert in Arizona so maybe thats why 20-50w is used, I dont know. I was gonna get some Spectro but the service guy said you dont want to be switching oil weight or brands if you have been using the same type since you owned it, I still have 3 years on warranty and don't want to void. Is 20-50w to high or what? Thanks
