Foam filled atv tires for pulling
#1
What do you all think about this? Will it help you think from the weight standpoint (each tire weights 160 lbs) or will the added rotating mass hurt/break drivetrain parts. It will be going on a 03 p650. So what do you think?

Did you say 160lbs per tire. Holy sh$t that is crazy. I am try to save evey pound of rotation mass I can. If you add over 600lbs of tires you better put a turbo on your quad. Hook your quad up to a 600lb trailer and see what the difference will be. Than double that for the rotation mass and you will get the idea of how bad that would be. You will break stuff adding all that weight.

You do NOT want that additional weight unsprung, & added to your rotational mass, as indicated by the other guys... you WILL break parts... you are much better off getting the best tire for your pulling surface, & increaseing your contact patch as best possible, & add additional weight to where it will do you more good ( I run a set of custom light weight aluminum 12" X 12" wheels on my 12.5" wide tires ) this gives me the biggest possible foot print with those tires... but it is not uncommon for me to take as many as 3 sets of tires to an event, if I'm unfamiliar with the pulling surface... & my expirience with the cost of foam filling tires, you could buy 3 sets of tires & wheels for the cost of foam filling one set of ATV tires....
I'd be glad to discuss tire / surface options more if you'd like... you can see a few old pulling pics in my bio, by clicking the camera to trhe left on my post...

Well he is not putting foam in the all the tires only the rear and we got the tires back yesterday from the foamers and put them on the scale at work they weigh at about 135 lbs each not 160 like what the foamer people said. So that is not quite as heavy. Actually the bike handles them quite well other than ride and how much it lifts the rear up when you acclerate. It is actually not as hard to get moving as I pictured it would be. The belt has not sqwaled once yet surprisingly but like you all said it may start popping parts. OH well his bike not mine LOL.
