Default More Q's about lakota jet kit

Q#1- I got the carb off & apart, the 'DYNOJET' kit says to drill the slide lift hole w/ provided bit- Now, the illustration they give says you're looking at the bottom, but it's actually the top view & the hole they point to is not in the center, but below the actual lift hole. there's only one hole in my carb, but they're showing 2, & the way they show it, I drill from the bottom(TOP, in their Ill.)? I'm being ultra cautious, cuz I don't wanna mess this carb up- does it make a diff which end I drill?
Also, the bit the provide is fatter than the provided needle, up to the top, where it's the same width. Q#2- Is there sposed to be that much play in the slide lift hole?
Q#3- I thought the needle went up as you activate the throttle, but the way the kit has you install the needle, it just rests under the spring inside that plastic piece- Am I being overly paranoid?
I appreciate any & all help, I WANNA RIDE!!!

Yup, A buddy happened to stop by & showed me exactly what to do- Th e part to drill is the piece on top, under the vacuum thingie(vac piston???), so I drilled that & got everything in place w/ the #138 main & slapped it on, now I'm doing the exhaust today(Fri)- I think it was you, Rolsmojave, who said use 10 discs, so, I'm going 10 & see what happens. Then I just install the K&N and plastics, & hope 4 the best. It may take till saturday, as crazy as home life is, though. thanks for your tips................

I have the same year as you. I'm running 12 disks and still find the 138 is way too rich for it. The 134 and 136 also seem to be too rich. It fouls plugs out from time to time. I just haven't got any motivation to really tackle the jetting and make it right. It runs good the way it is, but could run better, I know.

STEBOB- About the pipe mount on the ISD2, mine's not lining up w/ the rear fender mount holes, & I'm thinking(I HATE to do the JR Riggins, but..) about wiring 'er up to the frame, cuz I'm so Dang frustrated- how'd you do yours? this is the last thing I gotta do B4 putting th' plastics back on, & I wanna at least see how she runs out.
As far as jetting, where do you ride, & what's the elevation? my jet kit came w/ a trouble shoot guide, & it covers most probs, plus the carb comes loose so easy on the Lakota, you can change main jets by just loosening the clamps, turning it to one side, off w/ the bowl screws, & Whammo, in w/ the new jet- That's what I'm planning on, once I get the whole bike together.........

Oh, YEEEAAHH! she's purrin' like she did before, & she's not much louder either. Tomorrow I take 'er out to th' trails & see how she do.
A lil' history of the bike- I bought it from a buddy for a grand, running, but in need of tires, chain & sprockets. The girl he got it from must've hit a few trees, the front wheels are dented up in many spots, but hold air. It also looks like the right foot peg was bashed real good & jimmied back into place as best possible- My buddy knows nothing about what happened to it, he got it for 5 or 600 & put a little work into it, used it for a spare bike & decided to sell it. He let me ride it all day one Sunday & BOOM! I loved it, cuz it's so small & easy to maneuver in the tight twisties where we ride- Gave him the $$(it also came w/ a new O-ring chain & tie rod ends) ,& now she's mine.
I'd like to get some aluminum wheels- Can any of you guys direct me to a site? ALSO wondering if mojave wheels(aren't they 10 inch?) will bolt up to the 'kota(the lakota's are 11 inch), the mojave seems to have so many interchangeable parts, & I'd really like to get some decent wheels for the 'kota. I like the way the mojaves I've seen(Yours included, Rosmojave3- By the way, that's a SWEET ride!) have the smaller rear rims.... I'd like to do that to my bike, SOON!!
