Atvboy1:
I've owned a Suzuki Vinson, P650, P700, SP700, TP700, KQ700 and a BF750. I owned the SP700 and the KQ700 for a VERY short time for different reasons. you always hear that SP's are the king of mud and water. I found that to be false. I hate the four wheel drive system that engages when it wants to and the single brake lever. The power was also very disappointing too. In the river where we ride, my SP700 got stuck far more than the P650's, Grizzly's and even a Suzuki Eiger that we rode with. Going downhill on a SP is the scariest thing you'll ever do.
The KQ700 was probably the most disappointing quad I've ever owned. The power was VERY disappointing on it and simply unacceptable for me. I'm quite confident that a P650 would stay with it or even beat it in a 100 yrd. drag. The handling was weird too, almost scary. They've also had problems with the reverse gearing and the ECM. I should've had my head examined for buying one of those things, waste of money.
I'm one of those guys that always has to have the biggest and baddest quad available almost to a fault. When the BF750 was announced, I was so excited I couldn't contain myself. I put a deposit down on one before the dealer even knew when he'd be receiving one. When I got it, the power was intoxicating. Everything else sucked about the quad. First of all, it had a low speed stumble and no one seemed to know how to fix. Finally, the IRS system on the BF750 is the worst I've been on outside of the Grizzly. In fact, the BF750 is a Grizzly on steroids, with a MUCH rougher ride. I remember arguing with Minimus about this. He argued that the P700 was better and my pride didn't allow me to concede. In retrospect, he was right. Savor that Minimus, I don't ever admit when I'm wrong. LOL His comment about the BF being afterbirth is spot-on. I got an awesome deal on another BF after I sold my first one, I kept it for a short time and sold it for a very small, and i mean very small, profit.
A riding partner of mine has a Grizzly. These quads get a bad rap. I've almost purcased one several times. My experience with the Grizzly reveals that it's a very capable quad in the water and deep mud, contrary to what I've read about them. They're just underpowered compared to the Kawi's and a little tippy, but not as much as people suggest.
The other day I went quad shopping again. I decided that I would drive all of them and make a decision based upon my driving habits, etc. I drove every Polaris quad from the 500 H.O. up to the 800 EFI. The EFI didn't impress me at all. I guess I was expecting more for a quad that has achieved almost God-like status in the forums. It rattled and made all kinds of weird noises. My seat-of-the-pants evaluation was that it couldn't outrun a P700. They felt very similar in power. I feel the BF750 would kill it after about 20-25 mph. It would wheelie from a dead start which is innovation in itself for a Sportsman. In short, $8,300 for a quad that rattles and makes weird noises and won't outrun a P700 is not for me. I paid 6,000 for my P700. There's no way a SP800 is $2,300 better than a P700. If I lived in higher elevations or rode in the mountains, I could justify the price and the SP800 EFI would be my quad.
Then there's the best, the P700/TP700. Everything I'm about to say I've said before or others have said a million times on here also. The power is awesome. It's close to BF750 in power. If you put a DG3/5 module or Dyna CDI it will stay with a BF750. It's ultra stable and climbs steep hills like no other utility quad. You can powerslide and fish tail the machine all day. It's a donut machine(if that's your thing, I like too! LOL) Contrary to popular belief, it's a demon in the river. It goes through just about anything any other quad can go through. The diff. lock is the best in the business. I can't say enough about it. I also wanted a Team Green Paririe but there none available in Oklahoma. I didn't want to wait until the 06's came out, and they would have been more expensive than the $6,000 I paid for mine. I think I'll order the plastic from my dealer.
Remember, my ramblings represent my opinion only, I don't profess to know it all, I just think I do. LOL
DustinMinnesota:
There's not 100cc's between all of them but I promise there's a WORLD of difference in power between a BF750 and a P650. Even the P700 feels much stronger than a P650. I agree that Kawasaki needs to continue to be innovative. They need to continue R & D on the IRS system and make it at least as good as a RIncon or Sportsman, the two best in the industry. They need to redesign the plastic of the P700 and put the BF750 motor in it or bigger, and add EFI. This is what many Kawasaki buyers want. Keep the Prairie name and make it the SRA Kawasaki utility offering. Improve the BF750 with EFI and a MUCH improved IRS sytem and maybe an 800cc engine. Then make the Brute Force Kawasaki's IRS utility offering. Drop the BF650 completely, it's price point is awesome but most buyers in the 500cc price range don't care about speed, they want comfort and features. SO then you're left with two utility quad offerings, one with IRS and one with SRA, both should be equal in cc's and technology. Then they should develop a 500cc IRS quad with all the most popular features at a competitve price.

Hey There CAM650
Glad to see you purchased another Wheeler. I am having a blast on your Old Red Brute Force. I wish you could ride it now and give me your thoughts. I have made a few suttle changes/adjustments and it is all the difference in the world.

Kevin!
It's good to hear from you! I hope you've been well. I'm glad you're Brute is treating you well! We need to get together and ride so I can try it out. Are you a member of the Central OK ATV club? Love the Fat Boy!!!!!
DustinMinnesota,
I think you're half right. I think they should drop the 650 and the 700 engines. They should offer an SRA and an IRS version and use the same engine, whatever that might be. Kawasaki's additional big bore SRA offering is what differentiates them from every other manufacturer. Then develop a 500cc machine to fill the gap. The 500 cc machine should be an IRS equiped machine to compete head to head with the Sportsman 500 H.O.
Kawasaki has always stepped up to plate in the cc wars, so a new mega bore offering doesn't surprise me, especially with the advent of the new Outlander 800. It's obvious that Kawasaki likes laying claim to the biggest and fastest utility quads. It's just a matter of time.

Hey Cam 650 that was a great breakdown. I saw another guy on Highlifter said he rode the Prairie 700 and Sportsman 800 back to back yesterday and bought the Prairie also. He said the p700 felt stronger in the mid range. Unless they bring out something else late this year I will get the p700 as my next quad.
Thanks fot that great rundown. Right now I'm trying to find out how much a rear rack would cost for my Rincon. Mine looks like poop and the touch up paint didn't help much.

I think its a safe bet to assume its not 2300 bucks better than Prairie for me also. That is too high of a price for any quad. I am betting for myself the Bombardier 800 isn't gonna be 2500 bucks or even more better than a p700 either. I would go ahead with the Prairie as I already have an IRS cruiser in the Rincon. Seems like the Prairie just keeps on winning every year. Everyone that owns one usually says its their favorite quad no matter what else thay also have. I have seen a few that like the Brute better but I think I would choose the Prairie myself. And the 6000 to 6500$ price range is also nice for a big bore quad. I paid a little more than that for my Rincon but Honda is the only brand I would do that with.
The quality shines on the Rincon like no other in terms of money value and build quality. I am not even concerned about a problem when I go out on my Rincon. Just needs lower gears and if IRS is your thing this is the only one I would choose.

Sorry if you read that and were confused reply went to wrong thread,
I agree with cam for the most part, He and I are both power nuts and have had about the same quads in the past and present.
I differ in that I thought Kawi was brilliant in the addition of the BF650 in the 500cc price range, I think its the best buy on the market. I also think the name is much better suited to the v-twin powered quads than the prairie name. I never even considered a prairie at first because that dumb name never made me think it was what it is, if you know what I mean. I wish they would just offer the Prairie chassis SRA brute force in a 750. ie. BF750 4x4i and BF750 4x4s or bigger if that is what the future holds. I hated the BF750i one of the worst handeling quads I have ever road. The SRA chassis can handel allot more power thats been proven by all the BB guys myself included. I have said it before and will say it again if Kawi wants a shot at the title in this years shoot outs they need to add a BF or prairie 750 (SRA) or larger to have a chance at this years title. The New BRP 800 EFI is going to be one tough quad to top and kawi does not stand a chance with a silver BF750i carry over quad that lost to its own stable mate the P700 last year. Come on kawi give us something we want.

What up my brotha from anotha motha....LOL
Set me straight, I've been out for a while: should I get a DG3/5 or a Dyna CDI for my P700?
Are you getting a Bomb 800? I'm gonna wait to see some comparisons this time before I buy although it'll probably be a beast. I just want to make sure it's all that, unlike some of the others I've purchased based on hype.
Good to see you on here. We still need to get together and ride......

Thats for sure. Have you made it to the dunes yet.
I still like the Dyna box over the DG modual, I just do not like splicing wires if I can help it. But there is a new company that has a programmable CDI in the works, its a little over do but I think it might be worth the wait it holds 2 programs that can be switched back and forth plus its compatable with the EFI system they have in the works. Its called VDI. I will try and find you a link.
Ya, I am going to go ahead with getting a BRP 800 as soon as I find a dealer that has a clue. I keep reading its the best of both worlds handeling of a Prairie witht the smoth ride of a IRS, Not sure if it is possable but I have to say its allot more prommising on paper than anything I saw come out last year IMO.
