New Dirtwheels Kawasaki articles

Well it sounds like that mojave (500 twin)is just another engineering toy for Kawasaki to tease us with, atleast they are keeping us interested. That 650 v-twin sounds good, I hope Kawasaki shocks the market like that when they intro a new performance quad. It sounds like the Raptor is pretty good in the comparison test.

The EX 500/Ninja 500R powerplant is a 498cc, DOHC, 8 valve, parallel twin that redlines at 11,000 rpm. The motor is rated at 59.1 HP @ 9800rpm and 34 ft.-lb of torque at 9800. The 388lb. motorcycle does 0-60 in 4.0 seconds and the 1/4 in 12.98 @ 99mph. Top speed for the six-speed bike is 118mph. My subscription copy of the new DirtWheels has yet to arrive but I have considered for some time using this motor as the starting point for a project quad. At least we can take solace in the fact that though this quad is unlikely to see production as the 250 Cross Country machine won't at least Kawasaki is working toward a machine and from a company that takes being beaten in the horsepower department as a slap in the face I have high hopes for the competitiveness of whatever they bring to market. They are demonstrating a commitment to all of us sport riders that hasn't materialized in a retail product yet but assuredly we will see something in green stalking Raptors, DS650s, and 400ex's soon.

Sorry to tell u but u will see for yourself that machine is just for some bigwig at kawasaki and nothing else mickey onelap put it together for them kawasaki may sponsor a race team "which is great" but for whatever reason that is as far as they seem to be taking it. "that sucks" at least suzuki has announced it will throw its hat into the ring once again unfortunately not until 2002. but i will take it anyway we can get it.
