Default 91 mojave problem

My buddy has a mojave and we went to go riding yesterday, at first his quad was working fine, then like 5-10 miuntes into riding it just died when he was riding. He got off and kicked started it and it ran, then he gave it gas and it stalled. I towed it back to the house htne it started and ran fine, We went back out and it did it again. We dont know what to do. Its overheating i think, there is coolant and oil and gas in the quad. He rode it like 2 days ago and its never done this. The thermometer opens up fine and the engine was super hot and he sad it was never that hot. The engine was hotter than the exhaust at one point. He called the local 4-wheeler sop and they said it might be electrical.

Anyone know what we should look for first? Like the the most likely problem. He doesnt have alot of money at all. Thanks

Mike

Make sure that the water pump is working. Also, if you check the shop manual-there's an oil check bolt that you can loosen to make sure the oil pump is working.

Are there any other possible things that could be causing this?
