Default Just bought 03 Kaw. Prairie 650..Any advice?

I just bought a 2003 Prairie 650. Anyone have a source for reasonably priced winches that will still work when I need it? Any advice on upgrades? Wheels/tires? I plan on doing some trail riding but I really bought it to go into my forest that I like to call a farm. 50 acres of old growth trees with several streams..I also plan on buying another atv so I can invite people to the land. Is the prairrie still a good bet for a second or should I focus on a more sporty atv that isn't so utilitarian? Thanks in advance for the advice. Crossbone2110aol.com

With the Prairie, you have the best of both worlds. 4X4 Ute with a muscle car feel. You will not be disappointed.

Call your closest dealer and find out if it was serviced in the RECALL! It means a new front end for you.
Search the forum for the recall thread, its about five pages long.

BTW, I love mine.

Thanks guys. I pick it up saturday. I will be sure to track down the recall. I'm looking forward to getting it a bit muddy.. How are those maxxi's? Love the exhaust.

I think most people on here would say put an EPI black spring onto it as one of the top mods. It'll help your belt life and to me it made it more snappy. If its not needed on a BF750 I will have one for sale.

Make sure you use low gear as much as possible. If you use low when you are going 20mph or slower or when you are mudding, hilling, crawling, pulling, etc you should have no probs with the belt and atv. have a good one.

I shimmed my carb needles, that helped the cold starting. I also added the black spring. If your carbs flood our your oil starts to smell like gas there is a little valve on the back by the right fender, its a little black thing. Anyway if your carbs like to flood out cut that thing out of there and just put in a fuel filter. After as much research as possible that little black thing is supposed to pressureize the tank like 1lb, mine built up more pressure and filled carbs and crank. Since removing it works great. Do a seach for hydrolock and such on the board youll find more.
