WTF was kawasaki thinking when they designed the airbox for the mojaves and lakotas? Has anyone used a box from a different bike and modded it to fit? I don't wanna run clamp-on becuase i ride water.

the stock setup really is fine if you just take off that front snorkel thing you will get alot more air flo.........the stock box way outperforms the clampon anyway, if you really want alotmore air flow and performance get greg from cwr's setup

yeah the stock airbox is crazy I never seen anything like that before. I ride too much water for clamp on though

do a compresion check and see how much lower it is with the clamp on in comparisson to the stock box setup.......the mojave and the lakota are velocity engins and the clamp on dosnt provide any velocity so unless you have a velocity stack like in a proflow kit that u atapted from another quad, the stock setup will outperform the clamp on, flow bench tests that were done prove it, also notice how much more rich you probally were running with the clamp on, if it was making u run rich that by it self kinda proves the clamp on flows less..............i had expericne with both setups, the stock box is deffinatly the better choice

Of course I had to run richer with the clamp on. It takes more fuel to match up to more air. If your engine compression is changing when you take the airbox off you have other issues. lol.

the compression lowers with the clamp-on because the engine looses velocity..........if you like the way your clamp on performs thats great but im just saying testing on a flow bench proves that the stock box out performs the clamp on

Show me a picture or video of your compression tester reading lower with the airbox on or off and I'll eat my words. None of the 10 cars I've done motor work to or 4 or 5 quads I've had have EVER had a compression test show different because of anything to do with what's in front of the carb. OMG I PUT AN INTAKE ON MY CAR AND LOST 20PSI OF COMPRESSION IN EVERY CYLINDER OMG!

Edit - now that I see you mentioning a flow bench and compression in the same sentence, I'm positive you have no idea what you are talking about. Compression is measured in Psi and flow rates are measured in cfm, which one are you even talking about.

well your reading too fast or im not being clear, ill start over...

1.The mojave and lakota are velocity engines and the strait clamp-on provides the engine with no velocity so it looses air flow and compression.....I lost exactly 14 PSI of compression with a 6" uni clamp on in comparisson to the stock box......I would show you some proof with pictures but i now have a 36mm carb and my clamp-on wont fit and my engine is currently getting some work done to it at Cycle works racing

2.Tests on a flow bench have proven that the stock box outflows a clamp on as far as air flow (this has nothing to do with the compression)

Run a compression check on ur mojave and post it, ill bet its pritty low...............I have no reson to make this up and all of my facts are right, and yes i do have an idea about what im talking about
