Saved by the V

Well I will never question my decision to buy a VForce. Yesterday I was riding in a new riding area with some hill climbs. I was leading the way because the other guy I was riding with (intruder1 from the forum) wanted me to go up first. We found this enduro hill climb and decided to go up. As I got further and further up I quickly realized that this climb was meant for bikes, not quads. It kept getting steeper and steeper. I was pretty horrified but just kept gassing it to get up.
Once I got to the top I turned around and looked down. I had gone nearly STRAIGHT UP the hill on a 45+ degree incline.
I have only been riding for a month and I think that something horrible could have happened to me on another machine that wasn't powerful enough to make the hill and didn't have an automatic. If I had missed a shift, not clutched properly, etc, there would have been some issues. Same if it didnt' have the torque of a V. Didn't have to worry about that though.

Been there done that and yes it's scary! But what a rush it is and that's why it made you accomplish something that you might not typically do! You got up the remainder of that hill because of FEAR and pure ADRENALINE! Now you have a model to measure from for the hills you consider and those you don't. Glad you made it...

I love mine. I'm "born again" to quads and even though it's a handful, it's still a good machine to learn on IMO. You can concentrate on learning all the techniques and stuff without adding clutching to the mix. And it has enough power that you will still be able to have fun once you really know what you're doing. For those reasons I think it would also be fun for someone who is experienced.
Also I noticed that you live in AZ so for desert riding I imagine the V would be AWESOME.

Kfx400orangeguy they ae both REALLY good quads. He can't go wrong with either.
Here are my thoughts. If you are going trail riding go with the V. You can go super slow or super fast and are never in the wrong gear when climbing a crazy hill. Also it has reverse.
If you are going for open desert then the DS would be better. The DS also has better suspention.
I can say this. He is looking at the right quads if he is that big.
