Kawasaki has a strong tradition in atv's.
I think they pretty much invented the concept in fact.

I just don't get it.
Why don't they have a strong 450 "race-like" quad?

The sport quads have the biggest or one of the biggest shares of the market.
They can't afford to ignore it.
Too much $$$ to make from it.

Even Polaris didn't ignore it...

i wont dispute their tradition in the atv world and what they have contributed to it, but the first mass market produced atv was the honda atc 90 threewheeler in the late '70's/early '80, if memory has not failed me. (i had a 1980 or 81 atc110) the other manufacturers, including kawasaki, soon followed with an array of 3wheelers, but suzuki was the first with a quad and then the first to introduce a high performance quad back in 1985, the 2stroke LT250r.

This is correct, really Honda and Suzuki are the ones who really got the sport going. Kawi only pulled out of their ATV backing temporarely. They have a history (dirtbikes and quads) of not doing much for a few years, and then come on hard for a few. Take their MX bikes for example, for the last few years they havn't exactly been the cream of the crop, and this year they are very, very good and are getting great reviews. The next few years will be the time to go green.

I wouldn't doubt it if it becomes the benchmark 450 quad. I'd also say it will have a aluminum frame and EFI.

This is just what I have put together with what I have accumulated in the last year. Im not positive about the features, but I would expect it here sometime next summer.

Im also predicting it will be available in green.
kaw's not in to mx now,and don't think their planning on it .they have always been in to xc racing ,think they will let suz, honda ,and yamaha fight it out on the mx racing thing .well don't be surprised late next year when kaw has a efi 500.i am predicting a efi 500 xc racing quad to run with the predator and raptor market

Just wanted to point out for those of you that have forgot that Blackbird is wrong on this just like he was on the lt450r, he told us it was a fact that it would be kickstart and told us over and over again he was smarterr than us. Now just like before he is wrong because we all now know it is a 450. Thanks for playing blackbird.
