Default Need help: bf650 or 650i?

I need help, guys. I sold a P700 earlier this year, intending to replace it with a Rubicon 500. Now I am afraid that I will miss the power, locking diff, and v-twin growl of the bf/prairie line. A couple of questions:

1. I had trouble with my P700 fouling plugs and dying when I released the throttle. i understand that this was probably attributable to the choke sticking (or some technical jargon closely related thereto). Is this a widespread problem with the P700? If so, does it also plague the bf650/650i?

2. I understand that the bf650i shares its IRS with the bf750, and that there are some problems. Should I opt for the SRA bf650?

3. Any other suggestions (even if the suggestion is to go with the Rubicon)?

Thanks.

I've had my p700 for a couple of years now and ride and race it hard. I have not had any trouble with the choke sticking so far and in my opinion, as long as you do regular maint. on them, they are some of the very best motors around. The 650i has a redesigned suspension set up and is suppost to handle worlds better than the 750. I personally have not ridden one yet but if it kawi can get the handling bugs worked out they should have a real winner. It depends on what you do with your wheeler on what to go with. But in any case I personally couldn't see myself going from a p700 to a Rubicon unless I had heart surgery and my doctor told me not to get excited. Then the Rubicon may be a good choice for puttin around with the senior citizens

Well I think you would be happy with both. As long as you use low gear when you are supposed to, the kawies belts wont give you any probs.

i think the guys that go fast like the SRA, it's more sporty to ride. the IRS is better for the technical trails and plush ride. so it depends on your style what you are going to be happy with. i wanted the IRS because many of my favorite trails are more like rock crawling than a race track. the IRS can also give a little more ground clearance.
i'm not aware of any real problems with the IRS and the 650i has an improved suspension over the 750 according to the spec sheet. supposedly the shock valving and a arm geometry has been changed. i haven't read of anyone who rides both comparing the two (750i and 650i), so i can't say if there is any real diff.

my .02 only. your mileage may vary

I had a P650 for 3 yrs, nice power, great for riding the trails fast and hard but not very comfty.
Now that I am on the 750 IRS, I will never go back to a SRA but like others have said, it all comes down to your riding area and your riding needs.

I'm like bfb - I had a BF 650 for about 7 months and now have a 750. I loved the SRA of the 650, but will never go back. I can't slide the 750 like I could the 650, but I prefer the tremendous acceleration from the 750 when that IRS hook ups.

BigReub:
My BF750i is not too bad of a powerslider now with the upgrades of the wider set of Wheels, better tires with a set of the Radials and the biggest upgrade was the WORKS Steeler AT Shocks. WOW!! What an improvement in every department, from fast rides, fast corners and superior Handling over stock.

My BF750 suspension wise is stock and is tippy at times. There are several other guys in our club that ride the 750 Bfs that installed wider tires and that made a world of difference. My next quad I think will be a solid rear axle. I hope some of this will help!! Merry Christmas!!
