Long warm ups before riding, no full throttle for first 10 hrs. Easy riding like you are doing, watch to the oil, and antifreeze. Top off if needed.

Everone breaks them in differently.

After 3-4 hrs riding time, start up, warm up and ride and do some 1/2 throttle pulls for short periords of time to help finish sealing the rings.

On my 650 Prairie I was changing the oil after the first hour and 2 more times before 10 hrs.

After the 10hrs do all service work of the fluids. Check all nuts/bolts, cables etc.

Might be easier to go to Kawasaki web site and check out break in there.

After the break in period, always warm up before wheel up, and the engine will last forever.

Good luck. and go back and get your paper work.

One other thing, on my 650P the shop manual advised fuel cleanliness check at 10 hrs. This is pull out the float bowl drain screws and look for comtamination/ dirt of any kind. Also look inside fuel tank for anything. Valve adjustment check ever year or as needed. In 4K miles my 650 needed valves adjusted once and I rode the crap out of it. After break in I started using synthetic oil throughout the quad...................................handycap, going to Glamis in Feb.

Alot of the break in stuff is opinion. I let mine warm up good, but then I just giv'er. Drive it now like your going to drive it later. You don't want to surprise it. Just make sure you keep up with your regular maintenance and you'll be ok. Change your oil afer the first 10 hours though, the shipping oil that comes in them isn't as high quality as some oils that you can buy.

Go to www.mototuneusa.com scroll down until you see "break-in secrets" on the left side of the page toward the bottom....click and read....you will never "baby" another quad again......I broke my 750 in this very way for the first 20 miles and it runs strong.....I did the "owners manual" break in on my "02 P650 and 04' P700 and they didn't come alive like the 750 did when I used the mototune method.....read it twice if you need to and it will make perfect sense........

Pushed my brand new 700 off the trailer and checked all of the fluids. Put on my helmet on, warmed it up and did about a dozen WOT runs.

I will put my leak down figures up against any. I cut the filter open and found just the right amount of black ring material and a small piece of casting flash. Thats it.

I also wanted to know if my quad was built on a Friday.
If it was, I wanted Kawie to pay for it; not me.

I've seen too many people blow up their motors AFTER the warrantee period is over. Personally; I want to know when it is on their dime.

Break it in how you want, this is only how "I" do it.

ditto doctorturbo......the other thing is don't hold it in one certain rpm for too long (over 10 minutes). Just vary it up and down the rpm range (idle to wot) for 10 hours, change oil and filter, it's broken in. Oil and filter again at 25 hours. That's how I've done mine, no problems.

10 min!!! I couldn't hold mine open for over 10 seconds. Even at that I would have to jam on the brakes so I would not run into the fence on my property. In all seriousness you are dead on kawiyowee, you should vary RPM.
One other thing. It seems that some people on this board have heating problems with the engine in the V. My fan almost never comes on. In fact I kind of got worried about it so I ran it up hard and then let it sit and idle. It came on and cycled for about 15 seconds or so and shut off. I wonder if it has any thing to do with break-in?
Another complaint is oil coming out of the vent tube on a V. Never seen any of this. Wonder if it has to do with break-in?
Just something to think and wonder about?
