Runin wide open,
Another thing, Ask people about mileage on quads or hours. Most people ride very little in a year due to no place to ride. I ride daily and put 4K miles on my 650 Prairie in 2 1/2 years without any engine problems and no oil consumption.
Friends of mine in ND have Kawasaki and Polaris quads on cattle ranches. Dave has 24K on a '02 500 Polaris and his neighbor has 33K on a '02 650 P Kawasaki. They break them in like the book says. Ask about work on quads and the only thing is oil change and u-joints and shafts. Ask them about valve adjustments and both answered what valves. Claim they never had valves adjusted or had taken quads in for 10 hr service.
This year when we went up for hunting, Dave has a new 600 Twin Polaris and aready had 6600 miles on it. Ask him how he broke this quad in and he responded, just ride them easy like I always do. Do any of your quads us oil and he says he wouldn't know, never check, just change every month or so.
