Default Need to drain carb bowls to transport?

I just bought a new Brute Force 650i, and the manual says to drain the carb bowls EVERY TIME the quad is transported. Is this really necessary? Why?

I think my manual says that too. Just before you shut it off, turn the gas off, give it a couple revs and turn it off. THat will do the trick.

I always load mine up and fogetabouddit. I rarely ever turn my fuel off and never had a problem.

Most of the time nothing bad will happen.. other than the loss of some gas. Which could be a fire hazard, or it could eat the spray in liner on your truck.
All the jiggling around, makes the floats rise and fall, and that lets more gas in the bowls...now if you just got done ridding in muddy areas, the overflow tubes could be blocked with mud, and if the carbs overfill, the gas has to go somewhere, which would be the cylinders. This could lead to the crankcase filling with gas, which dilutes and washes the protective oil film off the walls...leading to some expensive damage, if not caught in time.
Bottom line, its not that difficult to shut off the gas, and let the motor run for a 1/2 minute or so, and then there definetly wont be a problem.
Kawi and the rest of the manufacturers have to gaurd against lawsuits and liablities, thats why the disclaimer is there.

700cc, the 750 manual says the same thing and I have never drained them. And shutting the fuel off doesn't work either as there is not a shut off on the 750 and therefore I assume not a shut off on the 650i.

Big Reub,

You are correct that there is no shut-off valve on the 650i. I'll chance it.

Float moves up and down allowing the needle and seat to wear prematurely. Drain bowls on carbs.
