Coolant overflow bottle question
#1
Hello,
If the anti freeze overflow bottle keeps running low or empty of fluid, can it possibly going from the bottle to the oil?
I can not really tell by looking at the oil, but it is going somewhere out of the bottle but the radiator is full all of the time.
The reason I ask, the last oil change the oil looked a little strange but was not divided into 2 parts. just a lighter color.
And then I noticed the bottle was very low.
This is on my wifes twin peaks, the darn thing only has 200+ miles on it.
Thanks a lot
Steve

Did your wife happen to over heat it? Cuz my cat650 does the same thing when i over heat it...I think it just boils out of the bottle because of the pressure of the radiator...i could be wrong.

was the oil kinda milky? if the motor was ran shortly before the oil was drained it won't be separated, but mixed in and the oil will look kind of a whitish opaque color instead of the brown translucent color. if your machine has a leaky head gasket or crack in a cyllinder head or jug, it could leak water into the oil. maybe a seal in the water pump.

Thanks,
I am hoping for a seal in the pump, I do not know much about water pumps on atv's, I was thinking of putting a little bit of stop leak radiator/water pump conditioner in the radiator to see if that would do it. Or will that mess something up. The quad has never been overheated or ran hard at all for that matter. She pretty much stays out of the mess, unlike myself.
Thanks steve

Maybe some dealer,
Not the one I just took it to to get my recall done, I did not realize it but when I got home there was brake fluid all over the place from the front bleeders not being closed.
My front tires are totally misaligned.
I called to complain and they want me to bring it back in, but I should st do it myself.
The dealer would probably charge 300.00-400.00 dollars and it wouls still be leaking. Sorry I am just annoyed.
