Default Lugging the motor

Usually on my mojave when im trail riding and the trails open up i'll throw it in 5th or 4th and lug it down kind of low to keep quiet...not real low, but enough that you can tell the motor is lugging down.

I've never had a problem with this but just recently a friend of mine told me lugging down the motor is not that good for it

does it hurt it or not

Yes, lugging the motor hurts. Lots of pressure on metal to metal contact parts like rod bearings, and writst pins, etc., and relatively low oil flowrate because you are running at low rpm. You've got a DOHC 4-valve engine that is happy at high rpm range.

Its good that youre concerned about the noise. but the motor likes to rev a bit more than that, and actually have less stress and wear. The stator output is directly related to rpm and so is the oil volumn and pressure.
If you snap the throttle open a bit, and its kind of doggy...than its probably revving too low.

Thanks for the info guys that really cleared up alot.

that is one thing i know about the mojave..you can rev the **** out of these things. It really runs great in the higher rpm range.

mojave powerband really reminds me of a 2 stroke
