Default v force clutch noise?

I can think of 2 things:
1). Drive Converter Buttons
There might be too much gap between the button (or called "shoe") and the spider. The spec is about 0.3 mm max. Use your feeler gage to check.
2). Hourglassed Belt
Have you got stuck before or pulled something real heavy? Check the consistency of the width of the belt.
If above 2 check out OK, remove the drive converter from the end of the crankshaft and run the engine. If the noise is still there w/o the drive converter, then the problem is within the crankcase.
