Mods For Mojave
#1
I have a 2001 Mojave and i was woundering what mods i can do to increas top speed....
i have been told that a pipe and a filter with do this i dont know if it is true or not..
i know that a pipe will add HP and that a new front sprocket with one more tooth will increase speed.. that way with the pipe i get more top speed and don't loose performance...
does anyone know how mush top speed i could gain with a pipe , new sprocket , a k&n filter, and a jet kist if needed.....

should push it up to around 145 mph. Just kidding of course. The mods you describe will increase the top speed, but i never had a way to measure how much. It is noticable to the rider though. And more importantly, you will notice an overall increase in power, making it more fun to ride.
The larger front sprocket is the mod that will affect top speed the most. It will hurt your acceleration though, but the pipe, filter and jet should get that back leaving you with more thrills than stock.

I have another question
i was woundering if i should only go one more tooth or two....
will two teeth mess with the accesleration to much to compensate for?
i haev also her that 1 tooth on the front is 2-3 on the back... so if i go 4 less on the back and make it inbetween 2 on the fron would that be best.....
i am new to the atv mods if you have not guessed

I suggest only 1 tooth on the frt and run the stock 43 teeth back. But it really depends on what type of riding you do. for trails and some climbing 1 tooth works well and still adds some top speed. More than that and you can really feel the torque go away when pulling off from a stop.
If you ride mostly flat terrain and fast roads you may want to gear higher. Frt sprockets are relatively cheap, so experiment if you like.
I love mine with 1 tooth bigger on the frt and any other combination just hasn't worked as well for me.

Just to let you know. I have a 00 Mojave and tried to do some mods with it. I started out with rejetting to a 145 (then larger,) IDS2 supertrapp, and a 13 front and 41 rear sprocket. I COULD NOT reach top end without it bogging down on me. I put my 43 back on the rear and I can now reach what feels like the top end but the accleration in 5th sucks. Without more than just a jet change and pipe don't expect too much out of this bike. Don't get me wrong I did feel some difference but it's not like night and day! Also on the jetting I went with 10 discs on the pipe to start. I never could keep it from running lean. At one point I bored out a spare main jet with a 1/16'' bit!!!! For those who know what I'm talking about that is HUGE!!! Anyway, the bike ran and it fixed my leaning problem somewhat. I went back to a 145 main jet and 7 discs in the pipe. The plug is looking like it is supposed to now. Also I found out my leaning problem was due to my midrange needle. However, on the stock carb there is NO adjustments. What I had to do is place a washer under the head of the needle to raise it up about 1/16'' which helped to reduce leaning out in midrange. Think about it. Your not either at idle or wide open all of the time. Most of the time you are running at mid throttle and that is where your needle comes into play. OK I'll shutup now but hope this helps...
