2003 KFX 400 Problems Starting
#1
I had a set of handle bars corrode and snap last month. I had not got around to replacing them and just did it yesterday but now the quad wont start. It just cranks and cranks and has started for a second but turns off right away. Any ideas to get this beast running again.

If your handle bars corroded its hard telling what else is corroded. You will probally have to track all the wires and see if you can find something that looks bad. Id start with all you wires and connections and then go from there. Probally wouldnt hurt to clean the carb either.

They were corroded from someone bending them back after a spill in the past. The metal finnaly just got weak and broke, so maybe corroded was the wrong way to put it. I was thinking it is something more along bad gas, spark plug ect. It is stored indoors at a constant 65 degrees so there is not any moisture.
Also what is the proper way to start a KFX400, I know it has a primer on the fuel dial I am just unsure how that is to be used.

In that case id start with cleaning the carb, draining the old fuel and a new plug. Takes a little work but not much money and see if that fixes the problem. If not it could still be something electrical so checking for bad wires and connections never hurts.

I will check the choke, although it was working before I replaced the handle bars. Is there anything special you have to do when hooking the choke back up other than making sure the little nub is back in and the screws are tight?

Figured it out!!! Went ahead and charged the battery, even though the starter was still cranking, and it started right up. Must have been a little low on juice, hope this helps someone else.
