Default Anyone using Rotella Synthetic from Walmart?

I have been using Mobil 1 MX4T oil for the first 1000 miles. I heard that Rotella Synthetic would work great as well. The Mobil is tough to get, expensive, and has to be shipped to me.

Has anyone had good luck with Rotella synthetic?

I have never used their syn oil. I have used their dino oil in everything from a lawn mower to a blown small block. I have never had an oil related failure in any engine I have ever built. I see no reason to change. For a buck and a quarter a quart, I will continue to use it.

Thanks for the tips guys. If I could find Mobil 1 MX4T locally, I would keep on using it. But it costs almost 11 bucks to have it shipped, plus the 48.50 for six quarts= 9.91 per quart. That gets spendy especially when I change my oil every few rides because of the very dusty conditions I ride in most days.

I went to the Rotella T web site:

"One negative might be where the engine manufacturer recommends oil meeting JASO requirements. Part of the JASO requirement limits ash content to 1.2%. Ash content of ROTELLA T exceeds this limit. Oil ash contributes to combustion chamber and spark plug deposits.
The ash content of ROTELLA T Synthetic SAE 5W-40 is 1.47%."

I think the Rotella T is out because of the oil ash.

I like to run the Mobil 1 15-50. If that is not available the Synthetic Shell Rotella is almost as good and even cheaper. Just change it a little more often. Oils engineered for Diesel engines work real well in ATV's.

I buy Mob. 1 syn. from Wal Mart in the 5 quart jug for $22-25. I use 10W/30 or 10W/40 in my TP700. Works great.

Just remember to only use "car" oil in an atv or quad that has seperate motor and gear oil. Car oil has anti-friction modifiers that don't work well with wet clutches that most atv's and mc's have.

I have decided that I am going with the Amsoil 4 stroke 10W40. It is about 8 bucks a quart, but Amsoil is always easy to come by, at least around here. I would bet the Amsoil and Mobil MX4T are pretty much neck and neck. I read the white paper on the Amsoil on their web site and it matched Mobil in all the key categories.

The best oil is the Amsoil 0W-40 for the ATV's. It is safe for wet clutches too. I love it.
