Default Sorry, but yet another BF 650i tire question

I have always been a "sport" quad person. 400ex, Raptor, Honda 450r. Last week I finally broke down and bought my wife a quad. 06 BF 650i. WOW was really the only word I had after riding it. its amazing, I grew up and live on a farm were we have had 250cc, 300cc and 400cc ute's and they were all kinda boring, but this thing is pretty awesome.

My question is this; the stock tires seem pretty loose -- actually they suck. Has anyone had any luck putting new tires say mudlites on the factory rims? if so, did the handling improve? I guess im just a bit to cheap to buy the wheel/tire package.....or is that the better deal?

hey thanks guys

Ken

i put 25" Bighorns on the stock wheels with no problem, so i bet mudlites will work fine, too. eventually i plan to get beadlocks, but i gotta get some other stuff like skids first. i'll use the stockers until i can get the beadlocks.

the stock rims are light and that helps, but a good hit will make a dent.

I have the BF 750i. I too believe the stock tire set-up is not good. I purchased ITP mudlites in the same size as the stock tires and mounted them on the stock wheels. Very big improvement. You will definately notice better handling and less roll/push in the corners.

I am pretty sure there are atleast 3 articles about this in the past month. Check the history on here.

After-market tires work great on fatory wheels. Check out my pics if you would like. I got 26x12 and 26x10 Mud Lite XLs on factory wheels.

I think there are atleast 2 guys with BF650i s in the process of putting that same set up on theirs right now.

well the tire depends on the place you are riding. i go mud riding alot and mud lites are a joke! when you get in some red clay or blackland thats 4-5ft deep. i know you can run 27" you might run 28s even on the 650 without a lift, if you are a mud rider... if not then your basic mudlite or bighorn will work ......... but more over you can mount nearly any atv tire on stock rims....and if you like the power, buy you a new dynatech CDI box and unleash the power of that kawi v-twin.......
