Prairie 360 "stalls" under hard acceleration!
#1
I've been searching for a thread that might deal with this problem. Came close, but not exactly the same, so I'll seek help with a new topic.
I recenly purchased 2 just-serviced Prairies - a 650 for me and a 360 for my wife. We're new to ATVing. Retired, got a toy hauler camper, bought these two ATVs, and just got back from out first real outing. 4 days of great fun in the mountains of northern Colorado! But the 360 has one annoying problem: whenever the rider gets on the accelerator hard (even semi-hard), the 360 just cuts out... kinda like you suddenly shut off the gas. Or the air, maybe. Back off the accelerator, and go back on it a bit lighter, and it seems to revive and go.
I noticed this problem in a couple of test runs before out 4 day trip, but I didn't have time to do any research. That was also before the previous owner and I took both ATVs to his dealer for a thorough ($300+) prepaid routine servicing. I figured that would eliminate the "stalling." It didn't. I guess I could talk to the dealer to see if they'd take it back and figure out what they missed, but I suspect that would be the beginning of a fruitless hassle, and the dealer is not close enough to me for continued use long-term. So I thought I'd turn to the experts on this discussion forum.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Some routine carb mod? A known quirk with the KEBC feature? Too many folks out there like the Prairie 360 for them to commonly have a problem like this that no one has been able to cheaply overcome. Right? I hope!

I had this exact same problem and it turned out that my valves were out of adjustment. I did not experience the problem for short runs but when they got some heat in them they expanded and I lost all power during excellaration. This may not be your problem but it took care of my 360.
Don't trust your dealer 100% that they adjusted them. I have worked very closely with dealers in the past and I know that they get 1.5 hrs labor to adjust valves but not all dealers actually do the work. It is a quick $100.00 in there pocket and they very rarly get caught.
Hope this helps,

Thanks! Valve adjustment may be out of my level of wrenching. I may have to go back to the dealer and argue for an actual adjustment. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if the dealer routinely cut corners on its services done under prepaid maintenance contracts.
