v2rider,
How can you beat a stock brute with just a CDI. You can see my list of mods, and I am constantly losing by 3 lengths up to top speed. Is there something I am missing, or is my jetting that far off. I am currently running 145r and 142f with 2 shims under each needle. Let me know some more of your thoughts on this one. By the way, good video shotgun. Thanks for all the advice so far.

My gear ratio is different then yours I can do 52 in low range. 70+ in high. Also he is running 27" tires on a stock motor.

Tire size / weight can make a big difference. My Brute with 26" Dirt Devils usually loses to a modified Z-400 in 400', but it usually wins with my stock 25" tires on. With my 26" tires I can beat a King Quad (with 25" Bighorns) every time, but just barely. However when we put 26" Gators on the same King Quad it loses badly, by several lengths at 400'. Notice that 650 in Shotgun's video had substantially smaller tires on it than what the Brute had. Smaller tires generally provide better acceleration unless you have plenty of power in reserve to turn those big tires...

92 acres out there, since it's not a working farm any more it is basically one big back yard where the nearest neighbor is about 1/2 mile away (from the central area). There is a little bit of everything there in the way of ATV riding terrain so it is a nice place for a little local play. Otherwise I basically have to trailer an hour or more away to find some decent riding...

Ok, I finally got to see.

My buddy just got his 06' BF750 back about a week ago. We put my old Moose Module and Pink Primary in it.

I had my 05" SRA BF650 with the Dyna CDI, K&N, Gold Primary, Black Secondary, 26x12 & 26x10 Mud Lites, and probably an extra 25lbs of lov'n.

We raced on pavement 2 times and we would stop at 60mph. Both times I lost by 3 bikes lengths. I was over the handle bars and rode wheelies for probably half the race times when it sat down he went by me.

In conclusion; I think the tires probably kept me from winning. The BF750 minus the module and spring and it would have been very close. I also think that I was unconciosly letting of the thottle when the bike was setting down because both times he went right past me when in touched down, even though I touched down at different lengths. If I can keep it down from the start I may be able to gain a bike length or two.
