Starter will not engage, just spins. Do I need a new starter solinoid or it something else?

 

Hello:

Sounds like the bindix on your starter is gone. The best way to fix it will be replacing the whole starter. Check ebay, they have them for a good price.
Also, you should pull the starter off and check the teeth on your flywheel and make sure that there is none broken.

I took the side cover off and a chain runs off the starter to a gear behind the flywheel, and that has a ring that fits in the back of the back of the flywheel and there are 3 cogs that fit in three slots. It operates on centrifical moition. I need the gear and ring, it is one piece, wright me if anyone has one. Thanks

When the bike is finished it will be up for sale, anyone interested e-mail me, would use the ' free ' want ads but that does'nt seem to work.

 

Got a starter gear from ebay, started the bike. Anyone that has a klt, don't try to pull start it. It will munch the starter gear thats what happened to this bike.

 

So am I the only one with a running klt 250?

 

I have a 82 klt 250 with all the bells and doodads in the shop waiting to go to work, its not my fastest trike but shes a workhorse that likes to go hunting and trailriding. I like the big fuel tank and the lock out hub so it can be 1 or 2 wheel drive
