Default Need help! 650 prairie runs rough!!

I just bought a 2002 prairie 650 with 30 hours on it. It starts ok, kinda cold natured. It has great power until you get to about 25-30 mph. Then it falls on its face. Feels like it missing our running out of fuel. It will not run over 35 mph. I suspect that mabe the carbs need to be cleaned out. Just thought I would try to get some advice. Any help needed.

thanks.

check and make sure the fuel is still getting into the carb (make sure the fuel vent line isn't plugged). How much fuel is in it?

It has 3/4 Tank of new fuel. Just took bowls off and tried to clean jet. Still falls on face at 30 mph. I think the vents are ok But I will check them out I going to take the carbs apart and soak them in carb dip. They hardly ever drove it, original owner had in garage. It looks brand new. I don't think it has ever been in mud or water. Any way thanks for replying I'll check the vents.

The problem is most likely the jets, (air/fuel mixture screw). If the bike made any major climate changes, jets might need to be adjusted. One of my old bikes when it reached about 45mph, it kinda boggled, it just stopped, like the bike was either out of air, or thirsty for gas. I found a manual that told me how many turns that was needed to adjust the fuel mixture screw. After the fuel mixture screw was adjusted properly, it worked fine. But if you dont want to do that much just yet, clean out the carb first. If that doesnt work, we will try the mixture screw.

Cleaned out the carbs, and adjusted the vavles. Wow it runs great know. I set the valve lash to specs it does have some drivetrain noise now. But it is not that bad. just at idle. any one else have this problem.
