Default blue smoke coming from 650i

what the heck? it only happened for about five seconds but going down a straightaway. my friend was riding it and two of us saw blue smoke coming out the tailpipe. it can't be burning oil already. did i do something wrong? what could this be?

well I'll thow something out there. Did you add any fuel stabilizers or anything? They tend to smoke a bit.

was it pretty full of oil? sometimes a WOT run will blow a little oil from the crankcase vent into the airbox, and from there into the combution chamber. wheelies also do this. this is pretty common if this is what happened. i keep my 650i right at the full mark, but very seldom have the room for a WOT, and don't do wheelies anymore.

Just because it was the dealer doesnt mean they arent subject to human error, check it. If it hasnt happened again I wouldnt worry about it.

you should check your oil every day you ride it. sometimes the carbs stick and fill the cyllender (usually on a bumpy trailer ride). then if you try to start it it will hydro lock. this can damage stuff.

but if your oil is higher on the dipstick than before, make sure you smell it (for gas) and turn it over with the recoil starter once before starting.

Check your airbox for oil. If there's some in there it may been slightly overfilled or a steep angle may have caused some to overflow.
